Understanding Violent Crimes in Colorado
You can face violent crime charges under a wide variety of circumstances. Although you are innocent until proven guilty, police and court officials can be very unsympathetic to your explanations. In most circumstances, the state considers the following offenses violent crimes:

Many violent crimes are charged as felonies, although some are misdemeanors. A Class 1 Felony is the most serious and can carries penalties that include up to life in prison. Even a Class 6 Felony, a lesser conviction, carries significant jail time and financial penalties.
